Women with ADHD are often overlooked or misdiagnosed because their symptoms tend to be more internalized—showing up as overwhelm, emotional intensity, chronic self-
doubt, and the constant effort to “hold it all together.” Many are labeled as anxious, scattered, or inconsistent, without recognition of the underlying neurobiology.
Hormonal fluctuations further complicate this picture, as changes in estrogen can directly impact dopamine levels—affecting focus, mood, and executive functioning across the menstrual cycle, postpartum, and into perimenopause. This session brings a different lens: instead of focusing on productivity or trying harder, it explores ADHD in women through the interplay of nervous system regulation, identity, and lived experience, offering a more accurate and sustainable way to understand and support how women actually function.
