Summer Social Skills Programs

Registration is beginning for Corinne Eckert’s summer social skills programs. There will be two separate programs (each is a one-week camp type for 2 hours per day).

One program starts at the beginning of July for children to build connections to others with whom they can practice their skills throughout the summer, and the other at the end of August to get them ready for the school year. It is a fun program to help children of various age groups increase their social understanding and interaction skills.

Parents are trained to “coach” their children using the same language and philosophy to help the children generalize the skills learned even after the program ends. Many of the summer camp children also end up continuing on in some way for social skill support and training, or use this as a fun practice session if they have already been in the social skills program.

There will be one parent meeting before the children’s session begins.

Psychological services are claimable through extended health plans, and FSCD clients can claim the summer program as respite.
