Understanding Medication for ADHD

Our guest this month will focus on one of the most important topics for parents of children with ADHD – medication. In his talk, Dr. Paul Soper will review:

-Medications used to treat ADHD
-Common side effects of medications used for the treatment of ADHD
-Strategies to manage side effects from ADHD medications

Dr. Paul Soper, MD, FRCP(C) is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Glenrose ADHD Clinic, Edmonton, and Mental Health Clinics in Peace River and High Prairie. He has a special interest in ADHD and is engaged in clinical research with pharmacologic and alternative treatments for the disorder. Dr. Soper is the coordinator of the Edmonton ADHD Society, a group of physicians who focus on ADHD, the physician consultant to the ADHD Association of Greater Edmonton and the consulting psychiatrist to the CASA TIES Program; a six-month, school-based rehabilitative program for children with severe treatment-resistant mental illness.
