Summer Interactive Skills Session

Posted on March 16, 2017 by Ric GibbonsJuly 30, 2017

Corinne Eckert is a Registered Child and Educational Psychologist located here in Edmonton. Corinne and her team are offering Training in Core Social Skills: Summer Interactive Skills Sessions* in July and August. This one-week program offers fun and interesting opportunities for children to learn and practice social skills!  Corinne and her team provide group-directed coaching, and work on coaching participants on an individual basis during social interaction activities. This approach allows each child to grow skills where they need them most. The summer program teaches the underlying philosophy and coaching language, not only to children, but the parents as well. Understanding that social interaction is hard work, Eckert’s team makes sure children also get what they need to recharge during the day! Why enroll your child in this program? Eckert’s team says parents chose the summer session for a number of reasons: it provides an introduction to the school year program (Training in Core Social Skills) and can help families determine whether the school year program will be a good fit. Others access the summer program help to integrate the skills their child has learned in the school year with a new group of children.  And some come back each year in the summer as a “refresher”, to continue ongoing coaching in social development. Whatever the reason, parents and children report making supportive social connections that continue after the group is completed. Please refer to the Summer Program Flyer 2017 for program dates, ages and locations and to arrange an intake interview. Intakes are beginning now so if you are interested, don’t delay. These groups do fill up. *Psychological services may be reimbursed through extended health benefits plans, and FSCD provides some funding for its clients towards the costs of this summer program and pays in full for the school year program for its approved clients. Please note: This information is provided as a service to the ADHD community. The AAGE does not offer endorsement for  ADHD counseling, coaching or support services.
